WISE LADY – Standing Sheep
This lovely Zwartbles sheep, called Mrs Darling, was a wise old lady sheep.
I have watched and watched, drawn and photographed this sheep endlessly, as I wanted to capture her unique characteristics. I have done a number of different bronze sculptures of this sheep in various positions. I feel when she looks at you, you feel rather humbled. Mrs Darling was a pet Zwartbles sheep who we had in our possession for several years. This breed originated in Holland, and were bred for meat, but not her! Mrs Darling, would come into the house to look for human food, anything other than sheep pellets!
She was an old and wise sheep, and hardly went in the field in her latter years. Instead she hobbled around the yard, sleeping most of the day so ideal for drawing purposes.
This wildlife sculpture of a Zwartbles sheep is available in bronze as a limited edition of 9 and in bronze resin as a limited edition of 25. It would make an ideal gift for someone who loves the countryside or farm animals. It can be placed on a slate or stone base which gives it more stature.
